A small, careful IT company named after the road where it started — and after a tree known for being quietly, exceptionally strong.
Who we are
Hornbeam Tech Services Ltd is an information technology services company registered in England and Wales and based in Havant, Hampshire. We were incorporated in September 2025 by our founder and director, Carl Rutter, to do one thing well: keep the computers, software and networks of small organisations working, without the jargon, lock-in or surprise invoices that give IT support a bad name.
We deliberately serve the organisations big IT providers overlook — teams of one to fifty, charities, home offices and sole traders. They depend on their technology just as much as a corporation does; they simply cannot hire an IT department to look after it. That is the job we take on.
What we believe
- Prevention beats heroics. Patching, monitoring and tested backups on a schedule prevent most emergencies from ever happening.
- Plain English is a professional skill. If we cannot explain a recommendation without jargon, we have not finished thinking about it.
- You own your IT. Accounts, domains, licences and documentation belong to you from day one. We should be easy to replace — that keeps us honest.
- Honesty over upsell. If the right answer is "your current kit is fine" or "you don't need us for this", that is the answer you will get.
Where the name comes from
Our registered office is on Hornbeam Road, and the hornbeam itself — a native British tree — has wood so dense it was once used for cogs, tool handles and anything that had to take strain without complaint. Unspectacular, dependable, very hard to break. That felt like the right ambition for an IT company.
